The patient services associate / patient care technician through communication, requisitioning, and management of supplies and equipment, coordinates the activities of the nursing staff, the patient, the physician, other hospital departments and visitors. He/she performs general receptionist and clerical duties in order to facilitate efficient functioning of the department. To assist the professional in performing direct and indirect nursing activities for pediatric to geriatric patients. Supports the general functions of the nursing unit under direction of the nurse. Performs some technical and specialized procedures or treatments following satisfactory validation of competency skills
Required Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent from accredited program required or student in one of the following programs having completed 1st clinical rotation: Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, LPN, Registered Nurse, EMT, Paramedic or PA. Completion of Nursing Assistant Course is desired.
Required Minimum Experience: Previous experience as an ED Tech, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech or student in one of the following programs having completed 1st clinical rotation: Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, LPN, Registered Nurse, EMT, Paramedic or PA. Completion of Nursing Assistant Course is desired. Previous clerical or related experience (preferably in a hospital setting) required. Preferred experience or certification in reading, interpreting, and writing medical terminology. Previous experience as an ED Tech, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech
Required Minimum Certification: BLS required upon hire.
Required Minimum Skills: Computer skills. Has the ability to anticipate informational needs and organize / prioritize data, and ability to work with limited supervision. Good interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Training and experience to be able to complete performance responsibilities of this job description.
