As a member of the Information Technology (IT) ITIL Governance team, the IT Knowledge Management Specialist will contribute, administer and provide governance oversight for the knowledge management process for the IT department. The IT Knowledge Management Specialist will help ensure a comprehensive, corporate One WellStar knowledge strategy ensuring the support and delivery of high quality IT services.

This role will oversee the process of capturing, developing, sharing, governing and effectively using organizational knowledge to achieve organizational objectives by making the best use of knowledge. Knowledge includes but is not limited to creating and managing departmental and corporate policies, procedures and operational/support documentation. The IT Knowledge Management Specialist will be the focal contact for internal/external IT audits and remediation in addition to performing regular reviews/audits to ensure alignment with policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Refine and distill existing and new WellStar IT policies and procedures. Solicit input from primary stake holders to deliver a comprehensive corporate One WellStar ensuring high quality IT services

  • Develop and execute a knowledge management lifecycle which includes coordinating, developing, reviewing, guiding, approving, implementing, educating/training, updating/retiring, effectiveness measurement and compliance oversight.

  • Identify, execute and regularly monitor key performance indicators to assess effectiveness. Provide input into developing and executing programs to address performance deviations.

  • Focal point for internal/external IT audits. Partners with auditing party and teams to gather, submit and track artifacts in a timely manner.

  • Acts as focal point of contact for audit issue remediation. Partners with auditing party and teams to develop, communicate, execute and measure remediation concerns to ensure alignment with audit/compliance.

  • Execute and govern process to pro-actively review policies, procedures and knowledge documentation for updates/retirement prior to expiration.


Required Minimum Education : Bachelor’s degree in related area or 5 years of equivalent experience.

Required Minimum Experience :

  • 5+ years’ experience working with auditing practices in a policy role, (eg. government, regulatory, public or private sector role).

  • 3+ years’ experience working in a health care environment.

  • Familiarity with ITIL standards, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA),Protected Health Information (PHI) and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAOH).

  • Superior writing skills and ability to create business documents.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis.

  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, planning and organizational skills, including the ability to manage challenging workloads and competing deadlines.

  • Exercise good judgment and make decisions in a timely manner.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office applications.
