The WellStar Bio Medical department is currently hiring a Biomedical Specialist to join its team. Using a large degree of independence, The Biomedical Specialist leads the Biomed workgroups in performing a variety of technical duties, providing preventive maintenance and repairs on electro medical equipment and instruments under the general supervision of the facility’s Biomedical Engineering Manager. Provides extensive project leadership and clinical customer support in advanced medical device and system planning and deployment.


Required Minimum Education : Formal technical training through a two year associate degree with knowledge in electronic digital circuitry and basic understanding of electronic and electromechanical devices.

Required Minimum Experience : Formal internship associated with a degree program. Seven years hospital experience as a biomedical technician with advanced training in the field of specialization through formal vendor or industry programs. Demonstrated leadership roles in cross disciplinary projects and activities within healthcare facilities.

Required Minimum Skills : Certification as a Biomedical Engineering Technician or certifiable. A+ certification required. Certification in IT network technology such as Net+, CCNA, etc. required.

Significant experience in supporting network medical devices and systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and in project management software such as Microsoft Project. Capable of interpreting building architectural and systems drawings and information. Able to compose and deliver presentations regarding medical devices and systems to clinical and administrative groups.
