The primary function of the Project Manager/Estimator is to manage the day to day Bid Desk activities and be the lead project management resource in bidding on jobs requested by the Cana Sales Department. In this position, the Project Manager/Estimator will evaluate the job and determine the price of the required products and/or services. The Project Manager/Estimator will use custom quote system tools and is responsible for keeping quote system pricing up to date. Also tasked with establishing and maintaining good working relationships between other company employees, vendors, and with customers. REQUIREMENTS Required: High School Diploma Preferred: Post-Secondary Education Experience Required: 3 to 5 years low voltage specialty Project Manager experience. 5 + years estimating experience to include previous experience estimating low voltage systems. Must be able to read prints and specifications; ability to produce detailed take-offs and Scope. Experience directing CAD Draftsmen and Engineers. Experience working in a cross-functional team environment. Broad knowledge of Structured Cabling, Intercom/Paging, CCTV, Access Control, & Security Systems. Preferred: 6 to 8 years relevant construction related experience. 3 + years Sales Support & Consultative Selling experience. Preferred: BICSI design certifications. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -Strong interpersonal and communication skills; visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office and telephone protocol; proficient in procuring technical bid data. -Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient with writing detailed proposals and Scope documents, prior experience with customer presentations. -Skilled in observing situations analytically and objectively and relaying details accurately; skilled to be able to adapt to the changing work environment; skilled in multi-tasking, coordinating simultaneous mental, manual and visual activities. -Able to sit for long periods of time (up to eight hours); Much of the time is spent driving to and from a client�s office or prospective client�s office or sitting at a desk with frequent opportunity to move about; able to move or lift light articles in the normal office setting. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 30lbs. -Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of organizational and scheduling skills. AUTHORITY and RESPONSIBILITIES -The Project Manager/Estimator will work cross-functionally with the Director of Operations and his Project Supervisors in a project Support capacity. Will also work directly with Sales Representatives and End Users in a Sales Support capacity. -Evaluate bid documents and make decisions on bid strategies. -Create take-off documents, perform bid reviews, and calculate material, labor, and expense requirements. -Meet with end Users and Engineers to qualify and Scope new opportunities or to develop system designs on current projects. -Work with vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers to create detailed solutions with BOM and installation Scope. -Interface with Engineers and Consultants to identify and resolve design and specification issues. -Conduct pre-sales site surveys and attend bidder conferences and pre-award meetings. -Manage his/her own schedule, set priorities and meet critical timeframe and bid deadlines. -Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers and their staff; maintaining a team-based work env
