Classification Title: Physician Division: Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Department: Health Services Nature of Work The Physician is a permanent full-time benefited position serving as the Director of Medical Services. This position is responsible for the direct primary medical care for students in a clinical setting. This may include initial triage and emergency care as necessary. As the Director of Medical Services, the Physician provides clinical direction of medical and ancillary clinical staff. In conjunction with the Administrative Director of Health Services, the Director of Medical Services provides strategic leadership to ensure a successful primary care center that provides a high level of service to the University of West Georgia eligible students. Also, the position serves as a senior level administrator in support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the University, the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management and Health Services. This position will assist with the recruitment, hiring of mid-level providers, and will manage and supervise mid-level providers, including chart review, prescription review, practice protocol, patient care, and other related tasks. Additionally, the Director of Medical Services will participate in the Departmental Leadership Team and collaborate directly with the Director of Health Services in the leadership of the department�including protocols and procedures for nursing and pharmacy. Required Qualifications M.D. required. � Must possess and maintain an unencumbered MD license to practice in the State of Georgia, or be eligible for and obtain licensure in the State of Georgia. � Must possess and maintain current medical board certification in specialty such as Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Medicine and Pediatrics (Med-Peds), or Pediatrics. � Must possess and maintain a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate and number. � Must possess and maintain certification to perform current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or ACLS (advanced cardio life support) certification. � Must possess and demonstrate daily effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate open discussions with direct reports and colleagues. � Must possess a working knowledge of an electronic health records systems. � Must be able to craft clear and concise reports and have the ability to interpret and articulate in a meaningful way. � Must adhere to, and hold direct staff accountable for, exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, and maintain the highest standard of integrity and ethical behavior. � Must have a valid GA driver�s license. � Must successfully complete a background investigation, including urine drug screening, and a physician credentialing process. � Employee subject to random drug screening. � Clinical staff will be subject to a continuous query of the National Practitioner Data Bank. Any findings from such query will be addressed appropriately, up to and including termination. Preferred Qualifications GA Medical Licensure or ability to receive within one year. SANE training, BLSCertified, SANE Certified. Prefer Family Practitioner or Internist, Prefer Board Certification. � Possess three years of post-residency practice experience. � Prior collaborative practice with advance practice nurses and/or physician assistants, to include supervising and evaluating employees, resolving conflicts, problem solving and encouraging a diverse staff to work well together. � Possess a proven success record of progressively, responsible leadership experience in a comprehensive health care organization. � Possess working knowledge of nationally recognized accreditation standards such as JCAHO or AAAHC, or having worked in a practice accredited by these organizations, and be well versed on processes, process improvemen
