Nature of Work This is a temporary, non-benefited position that will last for approximately 3 months. Under general supervision, this position requires skilled work in baking pastries and bread in an institutional dining operation as well as catering operations. Duties may include supervision and/ or instruction of food service workers assigned to assist in baking activities and in cleaning equipment and facilities. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years work experience in institutional or commercial baking operation, or 5 years work experience in institutional or commercial baking operation. Must be a team player and have excellent customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Culinary Certificate in Baking from Culinary Arts Program. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards used for large scale bakery operation. Considerable knowledge of the types and grades of ingredients and used in general pastry and bread baking. Knowledge of equipment and methods used in baking. Ability to read, write, and follow instruction. Ability to maintain records of output, quantities of ingredients used, and supplies on hand. Ability to implement procedures, methods, and activities developed by others. ServSafe Certification Preferred. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and/ or stand for long periods of time.
