Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated college student to join their surface transportation group in the Atlanta - Midtown office as an intern. This position will focus primarily on assisting the Transportation Business Line Leader with various assignments including market research, technology research, project assistance, project support, computer aided design (CAD) report writing, engineering calculations, and general office duties.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with field research, data collection, data analysis, graphics, maps and data presentation, as well as report development

  • Assist in design of transportation roadway and civil engineering projects. Focus will be transportation design of roadway projects for municipal and state clients with projects ranging from multi-lane facilities on existing and new locations to large complex freeway and interstate projects with multi-level interchanges.

  • Design tasks typically range from section development, horizontal and vertical design, drainage, traffic control and pavement marking, and utility relocation coordination

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering or other related field

  • Skills with internet based research

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office programs

  • Good writing and communication skills

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • This opening will not be providing relocation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Land Desktop, AutoCAD, InRoads, InSite, or MicroStation or other related software

  • A university student with no more than one academic year remaining before earning a degree preferred, these students are typically seniors in university. Contingent upon a positive performance review, a successful intern may receive an offer of full-time employment.
