Delta Air Lines, Inc. DFP - Mechanical Design Engineer II in Atlanta, Georgia
This is a position for employment at a Delta Air Lines wholly-owned subsidiary, Delta Flight Products; not Delta Air Lines.
Develop certification procedures, coordinate with regulatory agencies, develop substantiation data, manage regulatory approvals and administer the certification process.
Develop and maintain certification procedures.
Identify applicable airworthiness requirements for proposed major design changes, and develop specific methods of compliance.
Draft certification plans, compliance checklists, conformity plans and other administrative aspects of certification.
Manage the relationship with regulatory agencies and administer delegated authority.
Coordinate responses to inquiries, significant certification issues and airworthiness concerns.
Audit Company compliance to procedures.
Interface with customers, suppliers and other project stakeholders pertaining to certification of modification projects.
Provide statements of work, cost estimates, completion schedules and other project administrative inputs.
Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 3-5 yrs aviation related experience; or
Masters Degree in Engineering with 1-3 yrs aviation related experience; or
Ph.D. in Engineering; or
5-9 yrs in a technical aviation related discipline with 2-3 in an aviation engineering organization
B.S. in engineering or related scientific field strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Three (3) years overall work experience, 2 of which must be in an engineering role. Engineering internships and Co-op assignments may be applied to experience requirements.
Must possess strong knowledge of aircraft certification processes and substantiation techniques.
Must have strong computer skills and demonstrate proficiency with MS Office programs.
Must be familiar with aircraft mechanical/structural design processes, materials, fabrication methods and aerospace hardware.
Must demonstrate ability to draft responses to technical inquiries, methods of compliance
Must be able to effectively utilize aircraft continued airworthiness data.
Must be organized and an effective project manager, presenting good communication skills and a professional appearance.
Knowledge of aircraft interiors, composites and entertainment systems.
Experience as a design engineer, substantiation engineer or manufacturing inspector.
