Neenah has continued to grow and we are actively searching for a State Income and Indirect Tax Manager to add to our team. The incoming will lead, review and assist in preparing all financial information including the execution of internal and external reporting, maintenance of tax records and preparation and submission of state/local income and indirect tax returns. The Manager will ensure accurate and timely compliance with the statutes and regulations of all applicable jurisdictions and ASC 740 compliance. Responsibilities U.S. State Income Tax Compliance * Direct and review the preparation of consolidated/combined/unitary and separate multi-state income tax returns, including tax elections, related statements, supporting documentation and related analysis and support. * Submit all state income tax returns timely. * Provide input into the monthly ASC 740 current and deferred tax asset provision calculations. * Prepare monthly GL rollforward of state tax balances. * Manage and review state apportionment factors, related tax reports and models to prepare blended state rates. * Prepare and submit state estimated income tax payments and extensions. * Calculate and maintain state NOL calculations. * Manage the application of internal controls for income taxes and assist with SOX compliance, documentation and testing. Tax Controversy * Correspond with tax authorities and external auditors to ensure communication of relevant information as appropriate. * Communicate with state authorities to resolve tax notices and audits. * Manage audits of state income, franchise and excise tax audits. * Manage audits of state property taxes. * Manage audits of sales and use taxes. Tax Research & Planning * Monitor state tax legislation changes and analyze impact to the Company to identity and develop tax planning opportunities and ensure Nexus compliance for income and indirect taxes. * Research and resolve technical state tax issues. Miscellaneous Tax Responsibilities * Supervise, train and develop Tax Accountant. * Develop and maintain state and indirect tax calendar. * Manage, review and remit sales and use tax returns monthly, quarterly and annually. Prepare Michigan annual reconciliation reports. * Manage, prepare, review and submit property tax returns and payments. * Prepare and submit other sundry tax returns; i.e., Heavy Highway Vehicle Use returns, OH CAT returns, NJ Litter Tax returns, Neenah Menasha Power Company annual returns, NY BAR, etc. * Provide Treasury group with estimated cash payments for state taxes. Qualifications * Requires BS Degree in Accounting or Taxation. * CPA and/or Masters degree in Taxation highly preferred. * Requires 10+ years of income tax experience with a minimum of 7 years in industry * Big Four Firm tax experience preferred, with emphasis on SALT. * Requires ASC 740 experience. * Must be hands-on, detail oriented and work within a collaborative environment. * Preference for experience in manufacturing environment, gi
