This position may be filled at either GS-12 or GS-13 grade level, please indicate the grade for which you want to be considered. Responsibilities

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants who currently hold federal excepted service appointments are Outside the Area of Consideration for the Merit. You must apply on the DEU for consideration. As a Information Technology Spec (APPSW) you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Design, develop and maintain key components of the MS SharePoint platform using classic ASP, Microsoft .Net and MS SharePoint Server 2010 and 2013.
  • Develop software solutions by studying requirements analysis and information needs; conferring with stakeholders and IT Management; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; performs software design using software development fundamentals and processes, debug, test, and deploy software solutions.
  • Implements SharePoint-based workflows as well as development of Business Intelligence dashboards and builds SharePoint applications using CSOM, JavaScript, JQuery, SharePoint Designer (2010/2013) Workflows, XML, SP Services, REST API, CSS, HTML5, Content Editor Web Parts and other client-side SharePoint development methodologies.
  • Analyze needs and customize SharePoint search capabilities and components.
  • Functions commonly performed may include: analyzing and defining data requirements and specifications; Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
  • Serve as the preliminary technician for SharePoint application technical issues and challenges that arise within the DoDEA enterprise infrastructure.
  • Provide consultation services to customer community concerning existing information systems, automation of manual systems, problem identification, isolation and resolutions, etc.
  • Evaluates current capabilities including hardware, software, networking; and where expanded needs exist, works with other IT Specialists in developing requirements ensuring compatibility with existing facilities.
  • Conducts feasibility studies for all functions of the systems development cycle, e.g. requirement analysis, systems analysis/design, development, database administration/management.
  • Performs analysis of alternative approaches, prepares plans and specifications for the development of applications software and data manipulation/handling routines.
  • Actively participate in product design reviews by providing creative and practical ideas and solutions in a teamwork environment. A wide degree of creativity and latitude required.

This position has a Basic Requirement for the 2210 series:

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate

GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
