As an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Serving as a System Administrator for the Enterprise Infrastructure Group (EIG) supporting the DoDEA Data Center as well as remote locations in Europe and Pacific

  • Incumbent coordinates and participates in activities related to Microsoft's System Center client management, software packaging, software and operating system deployment and delivery, Windows Software Update Services, and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.

  • Troubleshoots noted deficiencies to identify and isolate sources and root causes. Serve as the preliminary technician for IT technical issues and challenges that arise within the DoDEA enterprise infrastructure.

  • Plans, schedules, and executes the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and applications software.

  • Manages accounts, network rights and access to responsible systems and equipment to ensure consistent application of established policies and procedures, and to evaluate the effectiveness of established business processes.

This position has a Basic Requirement for the (2210) series:

Your experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate: GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3*. For Specialized Experience at the GS-12: you must have one year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must be equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector.

You will be evaluated on the following specialized experience. Please address these in your resume or you will be rated NOT QUALIFIED:

  • Utilizing supporting technologies in conjunction with primary systems to assist with troubleshooting, such as: MsiExec Installer, command line interface, Preboot eXecution Environment (PXE), and iDRAC remote access.

  • Providing feedback to IT management regarding system's performance and emergent issues, particularly issues affecting operational availability, volatility, and instability.

  • Validating the performance of all new system elements in accordance with specifications and standards before returning to full operational status.

1.Knowledge of the systems architecture, topology, and protocols of existing or planned IT infrastructures. 2.Knowledge of the principles, policies, and practices of information security and the protection of IT resources. 3.Skill in relating, recognizing, and resolving potential conflicts related to networking equipment. 4.Knowledge to communicate both orally and in writing to upper level management and senior officials.

Time-in-Grade Requirements: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for merit promotion consideration. Time-in-grade is the 52-week requirement Federal employees in competitive service, General Schedule (GS) positions at GS-5 and above must serve before they are eligible for promotion (advancement) to the next grade level.
