Route/Activity – Drivers are responsible for delivering product to customers, unloading at stores (electric pallet jacks) and picking up returnable crates/pallets. Local and overnight runs available. We run both day cab and sleeper tractors. Slip seating is a possibility due to load volumes. We use Xata electronic logs and GPS tracking. Logging is required for all loads. We deliver palletized milk in plastic crates, on plastic pallets in refrigerated trailers from the dairy in Atlanta to metro Atlanta Kroger stores and outside areas of Macon, Savannah, Hilton Head - Auburn, Opelika, Lanett - Augusta, Irmo and Columbia. Driver secures load with ratchet straps ( E Track ) prior to leaving the dairy. Driver unloads at stores with store provided electric pallet jack. Driver picks up the same number of empty crates as he delivers at each store / stop. There are split shipments. Driver is required to separate / unstack crates from pallets to complete order as necessary. Number of stores / stops per load varies from 2 to 6. When the driver completes the route, he returns the trailer with empty crates on board to the dairy.
Shift - Monday thru Friday - 10am to 7pm. Saturday 8am to 2pm
Compensation – Hourly pay for all work.
-Loading, unloading, or assisting in loading and unloading truck.
-Safe and responsible operation of assigned equipment.
-Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines.
-Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage before and after route.
-Primary interface with the customer at point of delivery
-Train drivers in safety and delivery processes
-Provide support to drivers while making deliveries
-Lead and comply with Safety efforts
-Audit vehicles and equipment
-Communicate with drivers and Management
-Assist in the assignment of loads and dispatching
-Support process improvement efforts
-Dispatch drivers and monitor dispatch and delivery times
-Ensure loads are properly secured before dispatch
-Smith Training Qualified(Can be taught but must have Accident Free MVR and
Performance History Report).
-Driver Classroom Safety Training
-Help in the Management of Driver DQ Files
-Computer skills a plus
-Other responsibilities assigned by Management
-At least 3 years of customer service experience required
-Prior diesel mechanical experience, dispatch, and/or other trucking industry experience is preferred
-Positive attitude, analytical skills and problems solving skills an asset
-Ability to develop a team, strong customer service skills, strong communication skills, and organizational skills are required
-Supervisory experience preferred
-High School diploma/GED required, technical school diploma/certification or Bachelor's degree preferred
-Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills are required
-Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and AS/400
-Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
