The ideal candidate for a professional cook at Kennestone Hospital is able to: prepare nutritious, well presented, and appetizing food for WellStar Patient Meal Service, Retail Service, and other satellite areas utilizing from scratch recipes and all standard bistro cooking methods. They should have a strong working knowledge of conventional production equipment. Our kitchen utilizes specialized cook / chill production equipment to produce large volume recipes; large scale production experience is preferred. All of our cooks adhere to all sanitation and food handling codes following the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point guidelines and are expected to maintain a high level of general cleanliness. This position reports to the Sous Chef or the Executive Chef.

Required Minimum Education: No Minimum required, High School Diploma or GED Preferred.

Required Minimum Experience: Minimum of one-year hotel, banquet, or institutional cooking experience is required. Knowledge of modified diets is required for patient production cooks. Experience with advanced cook/chill technology is preferred.

Required Skills: Requires the ability to read, comprehend and follow standardized recipes and instructions including initialing where appropriate as verification of compliance with HACCP. Ability to operate conventional and cook/chill equipment.
