Position Description: The Special Care nursery RN: • Applies the nursing process to assess and care for patient’s birth to 18 months of age • Maintains advanced total body systems assessment skills and advanced technological training • Attends high risk deliveries with Respiratory Therapist and provides initial neonatal assessment and appropriate interventions in L&D and Transition Nursery • Maintains certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Position Requirements: Positions Requirements: The Special Care Nursery RN must: • Be able to maintain composure in high stress situations and act quickly in response to critical situations • Use Critical thinking skills to identify changes in the newborn’s condition • Have strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely • Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing • Have 1 + years’ experience working in the NICU • Be certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Newborn Resuscitation (NRP)
