Position Summary

The Executive Director for the Undergraduate Health Sciences Academy (UHSA) will provide administrative leadership for the Academy, will coordinate and effectively manage student recruitment, and oversee the development of innovative curricula for the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) undergraduate participants from Clark Atlanta University (CAU), Morehouse College and Spelman College. The Executive Director will also develop partnerships with academic, government and private entities necessary for student research engagement and will maintain effective relationships with faculty, administration and students within the undergraduate schools. Potential for faculty appointment possible with commensurate academic experience.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: *Coordinates and manages effectively the activities of the Undergraduate Health Sciences Academy (UHSA), to include outreach to STEM departments within the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) [e.g. Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and Spelman College]. *Supervises staff within the UHSA office. *Assists in the fiscal management and the annual budget for the UHSA, prepares budgetary documents and reports; oversees other budgetary data as needed. *With the aid of AUCC faculty, develops and oversees effective recruitment strategies to obtain student participants. *Maintains and updates the application/interview process for potential AUCC student participants. *Serves as chair of the UHSA Admissions Committee. *Serves as a member of the UHSA Steering Committee and oversees all subcommittee activities (e.g. Curriculum, Engagement and Evaluation). *Develops ongoing partnerships with academic, government and private entities to provide research opportunities for all UHSA student participants. *Develops and oversees evaluation strategies and instruments (e.g. data tracking) to determine program effectiveness and to monitor student success. *Maintains effective relationships with AUCC faculty and administration. *Produces reports and other statistical analyses associated with the success of UHSA student participants. *Participates with faculty in educational programs as appropriate *Publishes outcomes of program success in refereed journals. *Assists in the development and maintenance of evaluation instruments to assess program effectiveness. *Maintains oversight of contact with UHSA program participants through social media and permanent email. *Directs the oversight of graduate student tutors assigned to UHSA student participants. *Meets regularly with faculty teaching in the UHSA curriculum. *Meets regularly with the Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs and the Assistant Dean for EOHC. *Attends conferences to ensure that current methods of student retention are maintained. *Schedules regular meetings of the UHSA Steering Committee and Subcommittees. *Leads the development of a UHSA web site and marketing collateral for the Academy.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A Doctoral degree is required from a regionally accredited university. Experience: 3-5 years of related experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES *Creative, innovative thinker, self-motivated, and proactive. *Qualified for faculty appointment (rank dependent on qualifications) *Knowledge of principles and practices of project planning, development and evaluation. *Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related institutional issues and procedures. *Ability to develop and implement procedures, goals and objectives. *Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, proposals, correspondence and other written materials. *Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. *Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. *Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Preferred Qualifications

STEM or STEM education discipline strongly preferred.
