Delivers goods both in-state and out-of-state safely and in a timely manner using a Non -Commercial Vehicle. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, company employees, and the general public in a reliable, professional and courteous manner. Represents the Company and provides excellent customer service. Understands that safety and customer relations are key expectations of delivery drivers. Performs other duties as assigned.
Safely operates equipment and strives for accident-free driving.
References the Employee Handbook and Driver’s Handbook as needed to ensure Company policies are followed.
Per the Driver’s Handbook guidelines, communicates with Garland C. Norris as required, reports hazards, accidents, inclement weather, truck maintenance issues, delays, the inability to secure a customer check, damaged goods, shortages, over-stocked items, and any other situations as required per the Driver’s Handbook.
Attends Driver Training and Safety & Security meetings as required.
Remains aware of security issues.
Trains new employees on paperwork processes, routes, and collections.
Interacts with internal departments such as sales, warehouse, and customer service to meet customer specific requirements.
Safely unloads and loads truck at customer locations with and without truck docks. May stock product on customer’s shelves / work sites.
Follows driving routes provided.
Able to at minimum meet expectations of your goals on the Drivers quarterly scorecard.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Hours 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Ability to be a team player. Ability to follow all safety rules and road rules. People skills and customer service skills. Verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, understand, and communicate in the English language.
Deadline oriented; Basic math skills.
Ability to follow directions and operate independently.
Ability to use good judgment.
Education and/or Experience: High School graduate. Two years of accident-free driving experience with no moving violations.
Warehouse and forklift experience required. Box Truck Experience Required
Certifications/Licenses: Valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Driving License
Extended periods of sitting and standing.
Lifts up to 30 lbs. over one’s head. Pushing and pulling products, pallet jacks, and empty skids. Opens and closes doors.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to talk, see, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel objects, tools or controls.
The employee is occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee regularly climbs into truck cabs, trailers, and shipping docks.
Noise of straight box truck equipment.
Exposed to some weather conditions during the delivery process.
Fuels and washes vehicle.
