The Mechanical Engineer is an integral member of the project team, responsible for delivering mission critical design and commissioning projects of varying size and complexity. The Mechanical Engineer works on some of the most sophisticated and coveted projects in the industry, providing integrated solutions for technically complex issues. They should have a strong orientation to clients, an ability to effectively manage with kindness and compassion and strong business acumen with a solutions orientation. They play a lead role in assisting our clients in all phases of the design and commissioning process, from functional planning and conceptual layout through to detailed design and construction support and facility commissioning levels 1 through 5.

Have knowledge of a wide range of high reliability projects, including data and mission critical projects in financial services, government, cloud, colocation and other industry segments
Work closely with Sr Engineer and project design teams to define scope and involvement including:
Design & engineering
Developing system alternatives and supporting equipment selection
Prepare engineering economic analysis in determining costs such as total cost of ownership, payback period
Field observations and documentation of observations
Preparing risk assessment studies (single point of failure analysis)Performing energy calculations with software tools
Preparing reliability studies of building systems
Designing and specifying air cooled and water cooled central chiller plants
Preparing property condition assessments (due diligence reports)
Ensuring the design meets client needs as well as all applicable codes and specifications
Conduct project delivery activities related to Mission Critical Facilities Commissioning, including; whole building commissioning, best practices Commissioning, retro-commissioning, and re-commissioning projects
Be available for extensive site visits associated with the delivery of Commissioning services throughout North America. Site visits could be for extended periods of time
Attend meetings and coordinate work as related to Commissioning services with other disciplines and team members, the design team, construction team and the owners team
Assist with proposal delivery activities related to Mission Critical Commissioning
Interface with clients and contractors
Consulting Engineering experience for Mission Critical Facilities design and commissioning
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, EIT required and demonstrated progress toward achieving PE within 2-4 year's
2-4 years experience in Mechanical Engineering
Strong knowledge of the application of standard mechanical engineering methods and techniques
Plumbing knowledge & Fire Suppression experience an asset.
Experience providing quality control on design and specifications for buildings and facilities is a plus
Experience in design/construction review and contract administration
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is a must.
Interest in buildings, commissioning, energy management, sustainability and construction
Desire to divide time between on-site activities and office administrative duties
Ability to work independently with little or no daily supervision
Ability to work on low-rise rooftops, outdoors throughout the year
Strong understanding of low and medium voltage electrical distribution and generator and switchgear controls.
Strong demonstrated written and oral communication skills in English
Intimate knowledge of all building codes related to electrical engineering,
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
Ability to handle multiple projects with the ability to effectively prioritize.
Strong relationship and interpersonal skills required
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a strong customer service commitment
