Reports to: Vice President of Logistics & Warehousing
The Inbound Logistics Manager oversees the delivery of approx. $78M materials to 30+ SSB operating locations. Directs the development and execution of the strategic plan in collaboration with Supply Chain Operations (PPL, Sourcing and Manufacturing) and the operational execution of the providers for Inbound Logistics inclusive of Transportation and Warehouse solutions. Responsible for service and cost in a lean manufacturing environment with focus on plant operations as an internal customer. Drives best in class service levels by partnering cross functionally to develop and execute a delivery model that best leverages assets, processes and technology to service our customers.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and ensures alignment on the Inbound Logistics Strategy (Transportation & Warehousing) Executes Optimal Supply Chain design & execution for Inbound Logistics solutions (Transportation and Warehousing) Achieves best in class performance from a safety, quality, service and cost standpoint for Inbound Logistics for Entire US Network (30+ Plants) Leads Key Provider negotiations for Inbound Logistics solutions (Transportation and Warehousing) to achieve operating targets for Entire US Network (30+ Plants) Identifies and leads the implementation of best in class technology solutions in support of Inbound Logistics (ie. TMS) Oversees the development and maintenance of comprehensive balanced scorecard for Inbound Logistics for SSB Manages pricing, sourcing, capacity, and service of carrier base Responsible for execution of RFI/RFQ/RFP and awards of bid programs on on-going basis to ensure alignment with market pricing and capacity for all transportation modes (Ocean, LTL, FTL, Parcel) Develops, tracks, and manages cost and service improvement projects Creates route guides and works with suppliers, carriers, and plants to benchmark and report performance metrics (On-Time, Detention, Drop Trailers, Deadhead, and Claims) Partners with peer leaders in outbound logistics on backhaul management program for fleet assets Participates in the management of the 3rd Party Freight Payment company and financial accounting functions for accruals Drives OS&D claims process for inbound materials from vendors for carrier claims Generates schedules and recommends processes to establish and enable hub and spoke & multi-pick/multi-drop inbound logistics network to lower transit times where possible Converts inbound mode to enable total lowest landed cost at plant by partnering with inventory team Responsible for oversight and management of drop trailer programs with suppliers and plants Tactical leadership on management of expedites/exceptions for plant team Oversees the monthly financial performance (multiple sources) for actual vs. budget cost and conducts goal deployment process where appropriate Accountable for delivery of cost savings targets for inbound transportation and bridging tradeoffs of higher freight cost when we can drive lower labor or inventory costs Recommends changes to packaging and MHE to increase productivity and safety levels
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ WORK ENVIRONMENT Required:
Bachelor's Degree Required -- Transportation, Management, Logistics, Supply Chain preferred 7+ Years' experience in an analytical leadership or functional role in multi-modal transportation Strong analytical and financial skills Desired: Demonstrated skills in warehouse design, redesign and expansion Experience in selecting and deploying TMS solutions CSCMP/APICS Certification Import/Export Certification 3rd Party freight payables management experience
Working knowledge of EDI Office environment primarily sedentary in nature Exposure to manufacturing plant and warehouse distribution environment 20-30% travel
