We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Technician with an engineering, industrial designer, or journeyman’s electrician background to join our growing team. Electrical and control system equipment new installations, upgrades, arc flash hazards analysis, low and medium voltage plant power distribution system design, motor control centers, drives, wiring diagrams, and related equipment for plant power are services in high demand from our clients. For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local and national teams. The candidate will work directly with engineers and lead inspectors at BC, other consulting firms, and clients, for construction installations of facilities serving the private sector and municipal water and wastewater industries. Construction will include low and medium voltage plant power distribution systems, motor control centers, drives, motors, PLC’s, and other related equipment for plant power and control systems. Project work will include working with design engineers and contractors for layout and selection of equipment based on specifications, field investigations, field engineering support during construction, inspections for compliance to National Electrical Code (NEC) and specifications, equipment testing and commissioning, and develop project redline as-built conditions. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for building things, meeting new people, and desire to learn from seasoned professionals who perform industrial and municipal electrical, and other water/wastewater work. Primary responsibilities include:
Perform field data collection and protective device setting changes work to support NFPA 70E arc flash hazards analysis and potentially power system study modeling using SKM.
Aid with electrical calculations including arc flash, short circuit, system coordination, voltage drop, equipment sizing, research and design to the current National Electrical Code.
Perform electrical and instrumentation and controls (E&I/C) construction inspection duties of water supply, wastewater collection and treatment facilities including municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, storage facilities, and pump stations for municipal and federal clients.
Perform E/I&C construction phase reviews which may include daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, standards and codes
Coordinate in the field with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers and regulatory agencies
Review and track contractor's schedule
Document work not performed in accordance with the plans/specifications and advise the Contractor’s Superintendent and note in daily report
Review and provide input on potential E/I&C change order issues
Maintain E&I/C project records at the job site
Collaborate with a national team of technical experts in the Electrical and I&C group
High school diploma or GED along with a minimum of 6 years of prior experience with a background that includes electrical construction inspection
Journeyman electrician desired if not a degreed engineer
Solid knowledge in the application of the National Electrical Code
Inspection certifications preferred - ICC, APWA, NICCET, CRSI, ACI, AWS a plus
Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and written
Effective oral and written communication
Able to multi-task, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn
Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines
