Position Description Overview
First Data’s Portfolio Analytics team provides management dashboards, predictive modeling, standardized reporting, campaign-management, enhanced data delivery, and value-added analysis to multiple internal customers at all levels of the company. As part of this team, the Director, Portfolio Analytics role (DPA) will provide analytical services as part of all of these areas, with a particular emphasis on designing, implementing, and managing value-add data analysis tools to enable more intelligent decision-making throughout the organization. These efforts will show measurable improvements in profitability and client retention across FDC’s client base.
- The Director, Portfolio Analytics will collaborate with multiple functional team leads to interpret business requirements and utilize best practices for analysis and final presentation / delivery. DPA will work closely with internal clients and third-party vendors to create and continually improve self-service analysis and reporting tools to a variety of users. The DPA will also be closely aligned with FDC’s Marketing, Pricing, Finance, and Client Care teams and work jointly on multiple initiatives for FDC Executive Management Committee.
Scope of Job
Develop expert-level knowledge of a wide variety of business process through in-depth understanding of data sources, processes that generate data and best practices for interpretation and usage of organizational information. Analyze a variety of data sources to provide insight into opportunities for improved client retention. Utilize data expertise to recommend appropriate analysis goals and methodology in the absence of specific business requirements. Provide analytical and reporting support to the greater organization as needed for specific projects. Develop and manage recurring reporting to monitor trends within key opportunities and initiatives. Work closely with business unit management to ensure reporting outputs are actionable and aligned with that team’s initiatives. Collaborate with third-party partners to create customized self-service reporting and analytical tools in a continuous improvement/release cycle. Create and distribute ad-hoc spreadsheet-based data manipulations tools to assist other Portfolio Analytics team members in addressing specific Management Committee initiatives and requests.
Provide both ad-hoc and regular reporting on effectiveness of marketing and sales campaigns. Develop and refine customized metrics to measure impact of new programs. Work with Data Science staff to develop and refine benchmarking metrics and Key Performance Indicators to standardize measurement of campaigns. Evaluate third-party / external data sources for potential improvement in response rates / cross-sales. Provide data- and process-level expertise and ongoing improvement to FDC’s internal pricing models. Work closely with Pricing and Data Scientist teams to continually improve and modify model inputs and assumptions. Develop and maintain ongoing methodology for evaluating changes and recommending actions around changes to interchange, card brand association, and internal expenses.
Performs duties under minimal supervision, escalating most serious issues to senior management. Interprets and allocates resources to support strategic goals.
o 12 years of experience in Finance, Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Pricing, Marketing Analysis, Consulting. o Desire for career advancement. o Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred; Finance, Economics, Business, Information Technology or related discipline preferred. o Extensive experience retrieving and analyzing large amounts of data utilizing multiple data sources. o Extensive experience managing complex data analysis projects and managing a team to deliver the required results.
