Delta Air Lines, Inc. DFP Project Leader in Atlanta, Georgia


This is a position for employment at a Delta Air Lines wholly-owned subsidiary, Delta Flight Products; not Delta Air Lines. In the event you are a successful bidder, you will transition employment from Delta Air Lines to Delta Flight Products.

The DFP Project Manager serves as project manager for cabin systems development to various fleets of aircraft. This position oversees large and small divisional and/or cross-divisional projects with moderate financial risk and change management requirements

Interfaces with Engineering Managers, Engineers, Marketing, Maintenance, Outside Vendors, Supply Chain, etc.

Creates and maintains a Microsoft Project schedule and various action item lists

Accurately scopes out the length and difficulty of the tasks and projects while managing deliverables that are within scope and create change forms for those items added or deleted

Schedules and coordinates the tasks of the highly interdependent deliverables, resources, projects and initiatives

Develops mitigation responses and strategies to address project risks

Serves as liaison and main Point of Contact between the cross-divisional team members, the divisional management requesting the project and external vendors

Plans and measures program goals and objects; and reports status and addresses program questions to the Manager-Integration Design and other senior level officers and directors

Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field including Engineering, Mathematics, finance or business

Minimum of 3 years project management experience.

Able to successfully execute and manage the schedule, action items, risks and budget of divisional and cross divisional projects

Willing to travel domestically and internationally

Working knowledge of program management and Design Engineering in an engineering integration and STC certification environment

Working knowledge of planning and scheduling of parts and kits and associated manufacturing jobs and utilizing an ERP system

Self-starting and capable of executing the program within the allocated timeframe

Strong analytical skills

Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

Must have strong relationship management and influencing skills

Must be organized, present good communication skills and a professional appearance

Proficient computer skills with recent working experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.

Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Project Manager via Project Management Institute (required to be earned for promotion consideration to Senior Project Manager).

Knowledge of or experience with aircraft cabin avionics systems and equipment.

Lean green belt or black belt certification recommended.
