Burns & McDonnell Commissioning Manager in Atlanta, Georgia
Manager of Commissioning will be a Subject Matter Expert in commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy-related projects. Will coordinate and manage regional commissioning staff, projects, resources and performance.
Responsible for managerial direction and development of the Commissioning Department in Atlanta, GA and surrounding areas in support of Burns & McDonnell’s National Commissioning Practice.
Provide work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
Responsible for recruitment, development and retention of staff. Interpret policies, purposes, and goals of organization to staff.
Serve as the technical advisor, provides senior level input and evaluation on projects.
Demonstrate creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
Utilize vision to enhance effective decision making, monitor operational efficiencies and take corrective action when needed.
Determine program objectives and requirements, organizes projects and develops standards and guidelines.
Develop commissioning professionals while advocating safety and quality on project efforts.
Ensure Burns & McDonnell's quality program is being implemented on commissioning projects.
Function as the project manager for the development of new clients and large projects or programs. Provide leadership to ensure projects and programs meet client expectations.
Manage billability and profitability of staff and projects and coordinate efforts with respective leaders.
Ensure that the department’s financial goals and objectives are maximized and in sync with the goals and objectives of the national practice and regional office.
Lead sales efforts for assigned region and/or market.
Work closely with the National Director of Commissioning, other Managers of Commissioning and key leadership in the successful growth and management of the Burns & McDonnell commissioning practice.
Develop and refine methodologies, tools, and standards for an evolving commissioning practice.
Work with the National Director, other Commissioning Department Managers, Project Managers, marketing staff and other Global Practices to identify and analyze business development opportunities that are strategically aligned with the Company’s objectives.
Identify target clients for Burns & McDonnell and cultivate effective relationships with existing and potential key clients, customers and contractors to develop business.
Facilitate pursuit strategy, capture plan development, go/no-go decisions in order to pre-sell projects before RFP release.
Lead and facilitate proposal development, based on client feedback and key win themes for project pursuits.
Lead contract and negotiation process for projects after selection.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, construction management or related field from an accredited program.
Minimum 7 years of related professional commissioning experience. A minimum of 3 years overseeing commissioning teams.
This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
Previous consulting experience preferred
Master’s degree in engineering, architecture or MBA a plus.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is strongly preferred.
Subject matter expert in commissioning, retro-commissioning and/or energy related projects.
Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Highly effective communicator with clear and concise writing and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and vision to a diverse group of people.
Full understanding of the industry, and the new innovations and technology that will allow the company to always be on the cutting edge of the other firms in the industry.
Ability to obtain US government security clearance.
Certification in the Commissioning Process, as an Energy Manager, or LEED Accreditation a plus.
Subject matter expertise in combined heat and power/cogeneration, central utility plants, data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, water/wastewater facilities, controls, building envelope, TAB, NETA electrical testing, renewable energy and other specialties preferred.
