JOB DESCRIPTION:

Manages the accounting activities of the Student Financial Services organization including those related to the EmoryCard, cashiering office and student accounts.

Manages the business activities of the University's cashiering office. Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates a small staff in the accounting and cashiering offices.

Accounting responsibilities include overseeing routine and complex accounting activities including account reconciliations, preparing and reviewing journal entries, analyzing historical data to provide expense projections and operational forecasts, preparing and reviewing departmental financial information and reviewing results against budgets, researching source of accounting entries including journal entries and entries from other modules, and assisting with audits. Makes recommendations on process improvement opportunities.

Cashiering responsibilities include maintaining and practicing acceptable cash controls and cash handling procedures while coordinating work between various departments and depository banks. Manages the daily closeout process. Oversees the preparation of operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Ensures that customer service is maintained at efficient and effective levels. Ensures that appropriate security procedures are followed and that cash is secured at all times. Makes recommendations on how to use technology to improve overall cashiering processes. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business, finance or a related field and five years of professional business, finance, accounting or management experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of PeopleSoft, cash management and banking. Knowledge of and ability to improve existing processes in an effort to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Superior customer service and written/verbal communication skills.
