Job Title Antenna Systems Install Lead

The successful candidate will have strong mechanical and leadership skills. You will be expected lead teams of installers on the install of ViaSat antenna ground stations both domestic and internationally. As part of your duties you will be required to prepare technical reports summarizing your work and recommending solutions to technical problems. You will also be involved in creating documentation needed for facilities and interfaces of large antenna systems. You will be expected to actively maintain good customer relations and work as part of a diverse team both managing the work and participating in the day to day process of installation. Position can require heavy travel at times.

Requirements

  • Technical Associates Degree or Equiv. experience

  • Must possess a minimum 5 years related experience

  • Experience in mechanical assembly of large scale systems involving mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment

  • Ability to read and understand civil drawings

  • Ability to read and follow mechanical fabrication drawings

  • Experience leading teams, including meeting technical requirements, task ownership, managing budget/schedules, and resource allocation

  • Experience with cross-functional teams, including contractors, multiple engineering disciplines, assembly personnel, and quality representatives

  • Ability to work under pressure and to communicate effectively directly with customers

  • Experience resolving problems from design engineering to production assembly

  • Mechanical aptitude that supports supervision of rigging and direct cranes up to 200 ton capacity, to lift antenna assemblies that weigh as much as 20 tons

  • Demonstrated experience working independently to quickly identify problems and devising either a temporary and/or long term solution as required

  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral) are essential. Must have expertise in Microsoft Office and be proficient in supporting dynamic project schedules

  • Ability to pass skills testing for grip and static strength, dynamic lifting and work/positional tolerances

  • US government position. US Citizenship required

  • Must be willing and able to be submitted for a security clearance

  • Ability to travel 50% or more on domestic and international installations of large Antenna Systems and support facilities

    Preferences

  • Mechanical and/or electrical design experience preferred

  • Experience with large aperture antenna systems

  • Experience with motion systems and components such as motors, drivetrains, gearboxes, power and control systems

  • US Government Clearance

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Mechanical Discipline

The ViaSat Atlanta facility is located in the northeastern suburb of Duluth. Having relocated to a new purpose-built campus, this office supports the dramatically growing Antenna Systems Group with engineering, program management, business development, manufacturing, and product support.
