Senior Tax Analyst Job ID #: 1214 Property Name: Atrium Hospitality Corporate Office - MBC Functional Area: Accounting Position Type: Full Time Location: Alpharetta, GA Bonus Eligibility: Yes Position Description: This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate filing of our external and internal tax requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Director of Tax to ensure completion of day-to-day tax operations in the Corporate Accounting Department. Primary responsibilities include organization, compliance, balance sheet reconciliation and record retention. This position requires the highest level of professionalism, integrity and teamwork from an individual who is positive, responsible and dependable.Responsibilities:1. Assist in the preparation, filing and payment of indirect taxes for all managed hotels (Including the real estate valuation, personal property compliance, sales & use tax and unclaimed property).2. Performs all aspects of property tax, including budgeting, planning, compliance, and preparing accurate work-papers to properly document and support tax position.3. Analyze the appraisal values proposed by the appraisal districts and assist in determination of whether to accept or protest appraised values and whether any exemptions or designations are appropriate.4. Assist in educating a decentralized team to assign correct tax decisions via WebEx/Tax Matrix.5. Responsible for the preparation of withholding tax calculations.6. Applies internal control concepts with tax accruals and identifies exposures resulting from ineffective or missing control practices.7. Responsible for researching and resolving complex payroll tax issues.8. Assist with Federal, State and Local tax incentives.9. Review and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and related analyses.10. Resolve tax notices received from state and local tax jurisdictions.11. Assist in the development and evaluation of reports, decisions and results of tax department in relation to established goals.12. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.13. Assist with sales & use tax and property tax audit as necessary.14. Update/Assist with Tax team's internal tax calendar and verify all tax filings are made timely.Senior Tax Analyst Qualifications:Prepare property tax valuations using the income approach to value, compute going concern value, balance sheet reconciliations, present valuation conclusions in front of board members, informally negotiate favorable tax values, read and interpret governmental regulations and instructions, Advance Microsoft Excel experience, verbal communication, and administrative writing skills.Requirements:* 5-10 years of related experience* Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline required. Master's degree preferred.* Experience with Microsoft Office Suite-Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint* Skill with M3, ProfitSword, Birch Street, SharePoint, Accounting CS and similar systems a plus.* Tax Research experience with Checkpoint or similar tax research engines.* Personal Property and Real Estate Tax experience preferred* Hospitality industry experience preferred.
