Georgia Employer SENIOR ACCOUNTANT in Alpharetta, Georgia

Overview / ResponsibilitiesAmec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure currently has an opportunity available for a Senior Accountant in our Alpharetta, GA office. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for the input of daily cash receipts received, processing of refunds, monthly credit card postings and accounts receivable suspense reconciliations. The position will also assist in the daily general ledger operations and participate in the monthly closings, reporting to the UK Parent as well as assist with various special projects and ad hoc requests. Key ResponsibilitiesPost daily cash receipts in a timely and accurate mannerProcess and tracking cash receipts correcting entries and client/vendor refundsPrepare monthly Accounts Receivable Suspense reconciliationsDaily interaction and correspondence with the Project Accounting and Operations Management team membersSupport the Accounting Team in the general ledger close cycle (including account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals and account analysis)Assist in documenting and implementing procedures necessary to maintain and improve internal controlsFacilitating ad hoc requests from the Accounting Manager based on business needsLiaising with Group Treasury and transacting Bank representatives on an ad hoc basisAssist with reporting to the UK Parent via the Hyperion PlatformSkills / QualificationsBachelors Degree in Accounting / Finance highly desiredStrong knowledge of accounting principles (understanding of G/L account reconciliation and other accounting processes)Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong initiative and follow-upMust be organized and possess the ability to multi-taskHigh level of computer literacy is required with particular emphasis on Microsoft applications; Strong MS Excel skills are a mustExperience in BST is highly desiredPast experience in a professional service organization (e.g. Engineering and consulting) is preferred but not requiredPosition requires periodic overtime, particularly at month end and year end closes with the occasional weekend during peak timesDiversity StatementWe are an equal opportunity employer that recognises the value of a diverse workforce.
