Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

PCLender LOS is a loan origination system developed by PCLender LLC for the mortgage industry and intended for mortgage bankers, depository banks and credit unions.

The Business Analyst (BA) position is responsible for creating Product Requirements Documents (PRD) and related documents that clearly communicate to customers, software developers, and others how software will be designed and how it will function. PRD’s will be developed based on PCLender’s desire to continually expand and refine its software applications to remain state of the art and to contain the most valuable set of functionality available in the market. The BA will need to have a strong ability to envision new software features and functions that will deliver more value to our customers. The BA will also need to possess the ability to define the most efficient and valuable design for new or revised functionality based on mortgage industry knowledge and customer/co-worker collaboration. The BA will be responsible for testing software to ensure that it meets the specifications set forth in the PRD.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Efficiently identify and document the business issues of a customers.

  • Identifies strengths and weaknesses of proposed customer designs, software application or function and document improvements.

  • Identify industry best practices and document LOS workflow, features and functionality to improve efficiencies and processing quality.

  • Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.

  • Communicates and applies projects standards such as PCLender style or design guides to assigned projects and PRD’s.

  • Develops functional specifications and system design specifications to either expand/enhance a product or address a customer’s issue or need.

  • Identify, document and store third party guidelines and technical support materials in appropriate CRM record or Intranet file.

  • Identify and document testing requirements to ensure recommended design enhancements function properly and have no negative impacts to other LOS functionalty.

  • Leads testing efforts; creates use cases; runs cases against code

  • Ensures issues with assigned projects are identified, tracked in CRM, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Works with company, customer and vendor personnel to identify required changes to PRD.

  • Communicates needed changes to development team. Answers questions from development team and modifies design as needed to comply with technical standards

  • Takes input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately applies comments/feedback.

Required education, skills, experience and characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • 5 or more years working in mortgage industry and/or LOS software business.

  • Excellent understanding of the mortgage loan origination process including the functional roles and responsibilities of loan orginators, processors, underwriters, closers, funders, shippers, secondary marketing and compliance staff.

  • 3 or more years experience working as a business analyst with LOS products and a proven ability to create detailed and effective PRDs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to document and present complex business objectives to customers, PCLender developers and managers.

  • Ability to create test cases to verify that a software feature works as designed.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Able to quickly learn other tools including but not limited to GoToMeeting, SalesForce.com, and Company Intranet.

  • Effective listening and communication skills; must be able to understand customer requirements and explain requirements to developers and employees at different levels

  • Leadership; proactively seeks opportunities to serve in leadership roles.

  • Strong organization and time management skills.

  • Possesses understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.

  • Understands how legacy and web-based systems interface with each other.

  • Ability to pay close attention to details.

  • Ability to identify potential issues or problems and suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.

  • PCLender would prefer for candiates to have spefic and detailed knowledge on one or many of the following topics:

o Print Forms

o Mortgage Regulatory Compliance and Regulations

o LOS Configuration and table support
